I can't decide how to define my art. I love working with fabrics and fibers, anything tactile, but I also love combining them with lots of other things: paints, inks, beads, stitch, metal, stamping, paper....

Works in progress
Check out the earrings and bracelet that are in progress. The earring is what I was talking about yesterday, the "fiddly work" ones. These are nowhere near finished, but this gives you an idea of them. I think they're cool! The bracelet is of Greek ceramic heishi beads linked individually to a chain, with brass charms at one end. It's only missing the clasp, but that should be arriving any day now.

I'm trying something new

Bangle bracelets wrapped in recycled silk yarn. They'd go with just about anything!

And now for something completely different!
That's the name of the new exhibit going up at the VAAM Gallery in a couple of days. The member artists are being encouraged to submit work that is not their usual in terms of medium or subject matter, etc., or at least something they haven't exhibited before. In my case it's going to be things that haven't been seen much:

Dreamgirl |
L'or du Roi |
Handmade Book |
These are things I wish I had more time to make more of, but alas I don't. There may be other things I decide to include in this exhibit. At any rate, I encourage you to go to the VAAM Gallery at 223 S. Main, McPherson, in the beautifully restored McPherson Opera House building and see this exhibit, in place for the month of August only. Gallery hours are 10-5, Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is always free, just walk in. I promise it will be cooler inside than out on the sidewalk.
